Dussehra

Dussehra is one of the major festivals celebrated in India. Dussehra festival is celebrated in different ways throughout India with full joy and gaiety. This festival is celebrated for 10 days in the Shukla Paksha of Ashivan month. In India, this festival is celebrated in different ways according different costumes and different provinces such as nine forms Maa durga is worshipped in states like West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar etc. This puja is performed continuously for 9 days in which different forms of Maa durga are worshipped each day. On the day of Vijayadashami, mother durga killed Mahishasura, and on the same day, Lord Rama killed the egotistical Ravana. Ramlila is staged in these 9 days in north India. The members of the families dress up and come together to spend time with each other on Dussehra by eating good food and watching fireworks.
